The 41st battalion of the Australian Army arrived in France in November, 1916 and for the first half of 1917 were operating either at Armentieres or across the River Lys in Belgium. From 19th-27th Aprtil, 1917 they were in the Catacombs, a series of deep undeground shelters near Ploegsteert undergoing training or employed as working parties. Thomas Watson lost his life on 23rd April but as yet there is no further information concerning his death. |
